Environment Artist

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Yellow Brick Games is hiring an Environment Artist to join our team of experienced developers working on an exciting new IP. In this role, you will bridge artistic vision and physical interactivity, authoring benchmark 3rd-person environments that tear apart, evolve, and react directly to player actions. You will be responsible for building modular architectural kits, setting up complex asset & modeling optimized for fracturing and destruction systems, and collaborating closely with Level Design and Tech Art to ensure our spaces deliver intense gameplay readability alongside uncompromising visual quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create modular assets, organic and hard-surface, textures, materials (PBR) and assemble in Unreal, benchmark-quality 3rd-person environments that prioritize both visual clarity and gameplay flow.
• Collaborate closely with Tech Art and design, fracture and integrate meshes into the destruction pipeline, dynamic ecosystems, and interactive environment assets.
• Work hand-in-hand with Art direction and Level Design to balance high visual targets and gameplay while keeping performance and optimization within budget. 
• Share knowledge, contribute to pipeline improvements, and provide artistic feedback to elevate the environment art team.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years of experience in game development, with at least one shipped AAA or high-end AA title as an Environment Artist. 
• Portfolio showcasing both organic and Hard-Surface assets in a lit environment. 
• Advanced proficiency in Unreal Engine, Blender, Zbrush, Maya or 3dsMax and Substance Painter/Designer 
• Proven experience with modeling for destruction systems, fractured meshes, modular assets in a dynamic/interactive environment. 
• A self-starter who owns their work end-to-end, with minimal oversight
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
