We are seeking a detail-oriented Firmware Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing the stability, reliability, and performance of firmware running on our Smart Digital Power Tools. You will work closely with firmware developers, hardware engineers, and product teams to identify, test, and resolve issues across embedded systems.
Additionally you will assist our development team by helping assemble prototypes, running component evaluation tests, maintaining custom software programs used in manufacturing and testing our products, and potentially contribute to firmware development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test reports for firmware validation.
- Identify, document, and track bugs and issues using tools like JIRA, GitlabPerform manual and automated testing, including functional, exploratory, regression, and usability testing.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for firmware and software validation.
- Validate firmware behavior against specifications and ensure it meets performance standards.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers, hardware teams to improve testing efficiency.
- Support the production team by occasionally assembling electronics, testing, and calibrating products to ensure quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production-related firmware and hardware issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of experience in Quality Assurance for firmware, embedded systems, or software.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, testing methodologies, and QA best practices.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for test automation software.
- Experience with manual and automated testing, including functional, regression, and smoke testing.
- Ability to work with issue-tracking systems (e.g., JIRA) and effectively document test results.
- Strong technical English skills to effectively communicate issues to engineers and management.
Nice to Have (Preferred Skills):
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline integration for automated testing.
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks (e.g., PyTest) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
- Knowledge of C/C++ for embedded firmware.
- Hands-on experience with hardware testing tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, GDB, OpenOCD).
- Experience with microcontrollers (STM32, AVR, PIC).
