Engineering Support Services Specialist

Job Responsibility:
We are seeking a versatile Engineering Support Services Specialist to provide technical, documentation, training, and analytical support for engineering and capital projects, wastewater, and infrastructure operations. This role encompasses responsibilities ranging from business analysis and code reviews to the development of technical documentation, SOPs, and sustainability frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Business Analysis:
- Filter, analyze, and visualize technical and project data.
- Develop project tools, dashboards, and automation scripts using Excel, SQL, VBA, or Python.
- Prepare custom reports to support engineering and management decision-making.
- Technical Documentation & Training:
- Prepare and issue technical documents, SOPs, Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), work instructions, memoranda, and contract specifications.
- Deliver operational training sessions and workshops as needed.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert to provide advisory and troubleshooting support.
- Standard & Specification Development:
- Assist with drafting and finalizing design standards and contract specifications.
- Apply industry standard frameworks such as NMS (National Master Specifications) or MMCD.
- Candidates with designations such as RSW, CSP, or CCS will be prioritized.
- Code Compliance & Reviews:
- Conduct engineering code reviews to ensure project adherence to relevant regulations and best practices.
- Sustainability & Permitting:
- Contribute to Envision Sustainability and LEED documentation efforts.
- Assist with permit review and regulatory compliance support.
- Quality Management:
- Support the Corporation's QA/QC programs by developing structured templates and tools for quality assurance.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering support functions, documentation, or project coordination.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, OneNote, Teams).
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools; programming skills (e.g., Python, VBA, SQL) an asset.
- Excellent writing skills for SOPs, technical memos, and formal documentation.
- Familiarity with infrastructure projects (water, sewer, treatment, utilities).
Preferred:
- Certifications such as:
- RSW (Registered Specification Writer)
- CSP (Certified Specification Practitioner)
- CCS (Certified Construction Specifier)
- Knowledge of NMS, MMCD, EGBC guidelines, and Canadian municipal infrastructure standards.
- Experience in Envision/LEED documentation or permitting support.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
