Position Title : Direct Support Professional  - Team Lead

Location: John St. Vineland

Position: Full-Time, Permanent

Compensation: $28.94 to $31.91 per hour

NATURE OF POSITION:

Children's Group Living is seeking a dynamic Team Lead dedicated to empowering people to achieve their goals, fostering inclusive community activities, and promoting social engagement. Our program offers a diverse range of educational and stimulating activities aimed at fostering inclusion, building relationships, and developing life skills, both within specialized settings and the broader community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide leadership, support, and guidance to staff teams.
• Ensure program expectations are consistently met and maintained.
• Assist Manager with annual reviews as required by QAM.
• Provide program coverage as needed, including personal care support.
• Support the agency's self-advocacy group.
• Deliver timely program updates to the Children's Group Living Manager and Children's Services Supervisor.
• Foster a positive work environment and motivate teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in Communities of Practice, advocacy groups, and regional networking.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Effectively prioritize tasks and manage time.
• Work independently while being a collaborative team player.
• Possess proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Adhere to confidentiality and professional codes of conduct.
• Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends.
• Serve as a resource for teams, providing ideas and tools.
• Familiarity with the Journey to Belonging framework.
• Uphold agency policies for the safety and well-being of participants, staff, and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Relevant Children/Youth related field, 2-year Community College Diploma or related University Degree, or experience working with children/youth.
• Proven leadership experience or potential, including supervisory roles, team coordination, or project management.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills including MS Office, email, and internet usage.
• Knowledge of social services principles, methods, practices, and legislation.
• Ability to thrive under pressure, managing frequent interruptions and meeting short deadlines.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information.
• Presents a professional appearance and upholds a positive company image.
• Possession of a valid Ontario class “G” driver’s license.
• Completion of agency training and legislated requirements.
