Metal Shop Manager

Job Responsibility:

This position reports to the senior leadership team and will manage the day-to-day operation of the metal shop as well as contribute to continuous improvement of key metrics. The successful candidate should have a substantial background in Metal Fabrication and Powder painting in a supervisory or management role.

Responsibilities

· Effective management of day-to-day manufacturing in a single shift, five day/week metal shop operation.

· Utilize manufacturing tools/methodologies to drive continuous improvement.

· Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with our labour union.

· Ensure performance metrics encompassing all key manufacturing deliverables are in place and meeting them is a daily mindset.

· Ensure sound processes are in place to achieve best-in-class quality and on time delivery in a cost-effective manner.

· Make workplace safety a priority across the organization.

· Build strong cross-functional relationships across operations.

Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a metal fabrication/powder painting plant.

· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills while working effectively in a team environment.

· Must have hands-on experience with both steel and aluminum welding (mig & tig).

· Working knowledge of laser cutting machinery a plus.

· Solid working knowledge of ERP/MRP and the Microsoft Office software suite.

· Manufacturing management experience with a working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and a formal Continuous Improvement Program.

· Post-Secondary education in a related field is beneficial.
