Job Description: Metal Fabricator (Fitter)
We are a fabrication shop in Kitchener specializing in custom structural steel and architectural metal fabrication, including stair systems, railings, platforms, mezzanines, and custom assemblies.
We are hiring an experienced metal fabricator with strong fitting and blueprint reading skills.
This is a full-time, day-shift position with steady workflow and a wide variety of fabrication work—not production-line manufacturing.
Job Duties:
- Fit, layout, cut, and assemble structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Fabricate stairs, railings, platforms, mezzanines, and custom assemblies
- Read and work directly from fabrication drawings
- Weld using GMAW / FCAW (TIG is an asset)
- Operate shop equipment (ironworker, press brake, shear, plasma/oxy-fuel, etc.)
- Move materials using overhead cranes and lifting equipment
- Perform quality checks on completed work
Hours of work will vary and may be irregular and will ultimately be those hours required to meet the company’s needs and the objectives of your employment. If applicable, you may, on occasion, be expected to work some overtime hours.
Schedule (Normally 40-44 hours per week)
- Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Day shift only
- Overtime after 44 hours per week
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of metal fabrication / structural or misc. metals experience
- Strong blueprint reading and fitting skills
- Ability to fabricate accurately from drawings without supervision
- Experience welding steel assemblies
Assets:
- Red Seal Fabricator or equivalent experience
- CWB certification (current or past)
- Forklift / telehandler certification
- TIG welding experience
Compensation & benefits
- $27.00–$36.00/hr based on experience
