Personal Support Worker (Casual - Home Care)

Casual - At least 2 weekdays and every other weekend from 7AM or 4PM (Morning/Evening Shifts)

Acclaim Health is hiring for Personal Support Workers to work in Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, and North Halton (Milton, Georgetown, Acton, Campbellville) Community. The PSWs will be required to work at least 2 weekdays and every other weekend for both Saturday and Sunday. Shift times are from 7AM or 4PM (Morning/Evening Shifts).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Pay: $22.29- $23.39 per hour.


• This position is for an existing vacancy.


• We do not use AI to screen, assess, or select applicants.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

• Provides homemaking and personal support services to individuals and families in the community and retirement home settings.


• Assist clients with their personal care and activities of daily living to clients, including bathing; grooming; dressing; mouth care; and checking skin integrity.


• Collaborates with members of the health care team, the homemaking and personal support services team and family in decision-making regarding planning.


• Provides bedside care in retirement homes as directed by the Nurse or otherwise directed by Supervisor.


• Assist with the maintenance of catheter and colostomy bags when required.


• Performs light housekeeping, including cleaning of clients personal laundry and bedding when required as part of the care plan.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Personal Support Worker Certificate or Diploma


• Valid Ontario Driver’s license and insurance


• Current CPR certificate


• Current TB test


• Palliative Experience is an asset


• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member


• Ability to use mechanical equipment (hoyer lifts) when required


• Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills


• Effective observation and listening skills
