How will you make your mark? About the Role Vacancy Status: This posting is for a current vacancy to begin in September 2026. Work Model: Front Line The Municipality of Clarington, Public Services Department is looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff to provide leadership and supervision in a safe and enjoyable environment for Clarington Programs. Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, Community Programs –Recreation and Inclusion the successful candidate will assist in planning, scheduling, and overseeing Clarington Sports Leagues which will include a variety of sports such as Soccer, Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee with participants including children, youth, and/or adults. Key Responsibilities Assisting the Recreation Coordinator in implementing seasonal Sport League Programs – including Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, and a variety of other sports. Assisting in the supervision of recreation part-time staff such as scorekeepers and volunteers including providing guidance and feedback. Overseeing the scheduled sport league program activities at multiple locations. Collecting game sign-in records, game sheets, and any other relevant information during and/or following a game. Ensuring that all Leagues run smoothly with active involvement in league management, scheduling, and operations. Assisting in conducting staff assessments. Assisting in the delivery of all mandatory training and meetings, providing leadership in areas related to Clarington Sports Leagues. Communicating effectively with co-workers, participants, staff, and supervisors. Responding to general inquiries and provide excellent customer service. Other duties as assigned. What you bring Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age and exhibit maturity, responsibility, and leadership skills. Three (3) years of experience working with children, youth, and/or adult sports leagues in a recreation setting is required. Two (2) years of program leadership experience is required. Currently enrolled in or completed education in a related field is an asset (i.e. Sports Management, Kinesiology, Recreation and Leisure, etc.). Excellent verbal communication skills and strong written communication skills. Demonstrated experience in areas of league scheduling, coaching, sport and development, and/or program planning. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service. Proof of current Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification would be an asset at the time of interview. Successful candidates must obtain a Standard First Aid certificate at employee’s expense prior to commencing employment. Certificate in High Five Principles of Health Child Development (PHCD) would be an asset at time of interview. Successful candidates must obtain a PHCD certificate at the employee’s expense prior to commencing employment. A valid Ontario Driver’s License Class “G” with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract and access to reliable transportation. Candidates must provide proof of their Class G licence at the time of the interview. Must be able to legally work in Canada. What we offer Rate of Pay: $28.10 per hour (2026 rate) Hours of work: The successful candidate will be required to complete scheduled training prior to the start of the program and must be able to work evenings and weekends, up to a maximum of 24 hours per week. Additional Information Pre-employment testing may consist of written and oral assessments. A satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening, drivers abstract, and proof of qualifications will be required for the successful candidate. Candidates selected for an interview must present a valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence for verification and will be required to provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract if successful in obtaining the position.
