NEW Child Care Manager

Opportunity: This multi-faceted new management role within the Child Care team, involves the ongoing design and delivery of engaging, professionally run programs. These include licensed before and after school-age care, Pro-D and seasonal day camps, and middle-years curriculum development, all part of BC's “$10 a Day ChildCareBC Program”. Additionally, the role encompasses community and parent/caregiver programming and engagement. These programs are held at Parkgate Community Centre, Seymour Youth Centre and various community locations in North Vancouver. The role is responsible for maintaining professional standards and facilitating strong performance related to child care programs delivery and activities for the Society through effective leadership and the management of people, operations, facilities, and fiscal responsibilities. Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services that meet Provincial Licensing Legislation and Parkgate Society's requirements and standards.

• Work to strongly support the mission, values, and strategic vision of Parkgate Society by being an engaged and integral part of a cohesive management team.

• Build a strong & adaptable team and provide direct leadership to multiple programs; coach, develop and support staff and volunteers to achieve excellence in program delivery and service orientation.

• Develop positive relationships and engage meaningfully with our community of parents and caregivers, families, educators, key stakeholders, and other child care & professional colleagues.

• Establish an operational approach; understanding the need for collaborative policies, processes, and systems to serve the organization, team, and community.

• Facilitate and foster openness, cultural safety and inclusivity for staff, children, and families.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program enrolment, registration, and activities, including budget tracking and staff schedules and timesheets.

• Plan for and ensure well-maintained physical spaces and a healthy & safe environment for all programs.

• Accountable and responsible for program budgeting and the implementation of a solid operational, on-time on-budget, approach, and plan.

• Responsible for the management and coordination of Parkgate Society's fleet of two 24-seat passenger buses and the casual team of drivers who provide shuttle services and the safe transport of program participants for multiple programs through us and in the community.

Qualifications:

• A seasoned background in Early Childhood Education, teaching or equivalent; a post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field i.e. social work, child and youth, or equivalent combination of education and work experience; current ECE or ECEA an asset;
• Responsible Adult certification;
• Minimum five (5) years experience working with school age children and families in community settings;
• Minimum three (3) years direct supervisory experience leading staff and volunteers in a child, family and community program setting;
• Supervisory and/or management experience in a busy dynamic child care environment;
• Experience developing community based programming and services for a wide demographic base;
• A strong understanding of fiscal management with good evidence of delivery in a past role - i.e. effective budgeting, reporting and forethought;
• Effective interpersonal skills including excellent oral and written communication; a natural and genuine style of interaction with children and adults; a thoughtful way of addressing concerns & issues for a successful resolution;
• Experience in fundraising and grant writing an asset;
• Technically savvy with good computer proficiency including Microsoft Office 365, (Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint) plus applicable phone apps, etc.

Contract Details:

• We are located in beautiful North Vancouver
• This is a full-time permanent management position, based on 7 hours per day / 35 hours per week; flexibility with evenings and weekends will be required

• Three weeks or 15 days paid vacation per annum
• $500 professional development allowance per annum
• Salary Range: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour (commensurate with qualifications & experience)
• First Aid certification will be required
• Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check / Vulnerable Sector Search
