Security Services

The Screening Guard is responsible for supporting a safe and secure environment for all staff, patients, and visitors across Victoria, University, and Children's Hospital Emergency Departments. This position plays a critical frontline role by providing professional customer service while screening individuals entering through the main entrances. Using the weapons detection system and established security protocols, the Screening Guard monitors traffic flow, identifies and addresses potential risks, and ensures safe and authorized access. The role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and respectful in a high-volume, high-stress hospital environment.

Regular Part-Time, no guarantee of hours

Rate of Pay: $29.01 per hour - $36.25 per hour

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a high school diploma, or equivalent
• Licensed as a Security Guard in the Province of Ontario
• Recent security experience in a Hospital environment (preferred)
• Demonstrated effective communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to interact with others in a respectful manner
• Demonstrated high standards of ethical conduct, exhibiting honesty and integrity
• Ability to respond to situations with tact and diplomacy and remain calm in stressful situations
• Ability to monitor traffic flow through entrances and exits
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated customer service skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient family centred care
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis .
