Job Responsibility:
Job Overview: Schatz Winery is located in the one of the exciting emerging wine regions of Ontario just steps away from Lake Huron. We are seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented Winery/Vineyard Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations in the cellar, including wine production, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment. Also crucial to the role is interacting with guests coming into the winery for tasting and to present wines during events, markets and or day to day. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in all aspects of fermentation, blending, and clarification processes.
- Operate pumps, filters, presses, and other winery/brewery equipment.
- Clean and sanitize tanks, barrels, hoses, and other cellar equipment.
- Monitor fermentation and perform necessary adjustments under supervision.
- Assist with racking, bottling, and packaging operations.
- Adhere to safety and sanitation protocols at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of cellar activities.
- Assist with inventory management, including moving and stacking barrels or kegs.
- Support other team members as needed during peak production times.
Qualifications & Skills: - Prior experience in a winery, brewery, or beverage production facility is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Customer Service/interaction.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), standing for extended periods, and working in varying temperatures.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during peak seasons.
Forklift certification (preferred but not required).
