Transport Operations Manager

The Transportation Operations Manager, Canada will be responsible for overseeing and executing comprehensive transportation strategies to enhance our logistics operations across Canada. This role involves leading a dynamic team of seasoned professionals, both directly and indirectly, to support the needs of Operating Companies and customers. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of both domestic and international supply chains within the MedTech and Innovative Medicine sectors.

This role has direct oversight and responsibility of cost, compliance, and service improvement programs across these businesses. This individual will be the single point of contact for all elements related to Transportation Operations in Canada liaising across regions and functions across the region and global, including Trade Operations, Logistics Procurement, Deliver Operations, upstream SC functions, and managing downstream relationship with Canadian Logistics Service Providers.

This pivotal role is instrumental in driving the efficiency and optimization of our Supply Chain operations, offering a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to a world-class organization renowned for its success in the healthcare industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Leadership : Owns the business relationship with supported customers' senior management teams and establishes scope, roles & responsibilities on all transportation related functions. Collaboration with upstream Supply Chain partners, Deliver, Distribution, Customer Service, Technology, and local/global teams is also required.
• Stakeholder Management : Cultivate robust business relationships with senior management teams, establishing clear scopes and responsibilities for all transportation-related functions. Collaborate with upstream Supply Chain partners, Deliver, Distribution, Customer Service, Technology, and local/global teams.
• Budget Oversight : Manage Canadian freight spend budgets, administrative costs, and CIP targets. Develop and implement transportation cost-efficiency initiatives.
• Supplier Relationship Management : Engage with external service providers to drive process improvements and ensure stable, reliable execution.
• Strategic Partnerships : Foster strong relationships with strategic business partners to meet business plans and operational requirements.
• Operational Excellence : Apply lean methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness, partnering with 3PLs to embed these methodologies throughout transport processes.
• Data-Driven Insights : Transform data analysis into actionable insights to improve transport performance and decision-making.
• Compliance Controls : Ensure adherence to transportation-related internal controls and provide visibility for controlling functions across the organization.
• Strategic Roadmap : Develop and implement the strategic roadmap for Canada Transportation, including business cases for investments in the Long Range Financial Plan, aligning operating models and technology solutions with regional and global functions.
• Regulatory Liaison : Maintain a relationship with Transport Canada, overseeing the Security Program and the Dangerous Goods Program.
• Team Development : Build and lead a strong, stable team, fostering a culture of continuous growth and development. Implement effective performance evaluations and talent development strategies.
• Credo-Based Leadership : Make decisions and foster a culture based on Johnson & Johnson's Credo.

Qualifications

Education:

• University/Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.

Experience and Skills

Required:

• Minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
• Experience in multiple leadership roles within a Logistics/Supply Chain environment, including at least three (3) years managing people.
• Proven track record in attracting, developing, and leading teams.
• Flexibility to respond to changes in the external environment while ensuring efficient organizational transitions.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong organizational, time management, and project planning skills.
• In-depth understanding of transportation operations and financial controls.
• Proficiency in creating executive and operational presentations.
• High customer orientation and strong leadership, strategy setting, communication, influencing, collaboration, and talent development skills.
• Knowledge of SAP, TMS, Transportation Visibility solutions, or other controlling systems. Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
• Knowledge of customs and international shipping regulations.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance.
• Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.

Preferred:

• Certifications in Logistics, Supply-Chain and Project Management.
• Operational Crisis-management experience and training.

Other:

• 15% travel, mostly domestic and regional, is required.
