Staff Nurse/ODP Neurosurgical & OMFS Theatres

The Role

As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of high-quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role involves assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, while also helping to maintain a safe, clean and organised ward environment. You will contribute to ward housekeeping, stock control and infection prevention practices, ensuring patients receive compassionate, person-centred care within Regional Services, which includes Neurosciences, Oral & Maxillofacial Services, and Ear, Nose & Throat services.

Based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Neurosurgical & OMFS Theatres, INS, G51 4TF

36 Hours (Monday to Friday, Early/Late nights/weekends and On-Call

Key Responsibilities

Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will support the delivery of direct patient care and assist patients with activities of daily living to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained. You will build positive and empathetic relationships with patients, relatives and carers, reporting any changes in a patient's physical or psychological condition to the Registered Nurse. The post requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues to maximise patient outcomes while adhering to all organisational policies, procedures and clinical standards. You will contribute to housekeeping duties, stock control and the efficient use of ward resources, helping to maintain a safe, clean and well-organised environment. You will also maintain patient confidentiality, follow infection prevention and control procedures, and participate in ongoing training and development to enhance your skills and support professional growth.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Experience of working as part of a team.
• Understanding of the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
• Awareness of health and safety responsibilities within a healthcare environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
• Understanding of person-centred care and supporting patients with daily living activities.
• Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development.
• Basic knowledge of ward housekeeping and stock control procedures.
• Familiarity with equipment used within the clinical environment
