The opportunity

We are seeking a Manager to join our Financial Services Finance Transformation practice. You will work with banks, insurance companies, credit unions, and other financial institutions to transform finance operating models, processes, data, reporting, consolidation, and enabling technology. You will manage workstreams and project teams, collaborate with Finance and Technology stakeholders, and help deliver practical solutions that improve operational efficiency, reporting, controls, and decision-making.

The insights and quality services we provide help our clients build trust and confidence in the digital transformation of finance processes. We play a critical role in disrupting current financial functions through the optimal intervention of technology, and we make digital transformation a realistic goal by efficiently analyzing and utilizing business data.

As part of the Finance Transformation team, you will actively participate in engagements covering the following expertise areas: 

• Finance Transformation Strategy & Roadmap

• Financial, Management and Regulatory Reporting, Close & Consolidations

• FP&A, Controlling Excellence & Management Reporting

• Finance Operating Model Design

• Finance Process, Data and Controls Improvement

• Global Business Services including Shared Service Centers, Outsourcing

Your key responsibilities

As a Finance Transformation Manager, you will use your knowledge and experience to manage project workstreams, develop innovative solutions, and deliver high-quality outcomes for clients. You will plan and oversee day-to-day delivery, anticipate and manage risks, coordinate with client and EY stakeholders, and support engagement leaders in delivering projects on time and within budget. You will also establish trusted client relationships, contribute to business-development activities, and coach junior team members.

Client responsibilities

• Manage the delivery of Finance Transformation engagements and workstreams for Financial Services clients, covering finance strategy, operating models, process transformation, reporting, consolidation and close, planning and forecasting, data, and finance technology.

• Assess and redesign finance processes, systems, and data flows across product or source platforms, sub-ledgers, general ledgers, consolidation and performance management solutions, data platforms, and reporting tools.

• Translate business, reporting, data, control, and regulatory requirements into practical process designs, business requirements, transformation roadmaps, and implementation plans.

• Manage project plans, deliverables, budgets, resources, risks, and stakeholder communications, escalating issues to engagement leadership as appropriate.

• Contribute to proposals, client presentations, account development, and strong relationships across Consulting and other EY service lines.

People Management responsibilities

• Keep people at center through effective supervising, coaching, and mentoring of staff members

• Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff

• Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training Finance Transformation professionals

• Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills and knowledge

• Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures

Skills and attributes for success

• The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and keep an open mind (know when to lead and when to follow)

• Experience managing staff on multiple projects and providing direction to team members

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Practical understanding of the operating environment, products, and finance-function complexities of banks, insurance companies, credit unions, or other financial institutions.

• Knowledge of Financial Services finance processes, including financial and management reporting, consolidation and close, planning and forecasting, performance management, reconciliations, and finance data management.

• Ability to work effectively across Finance, Technology, Risk, Operations, and business stakeholders.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to speak fluently and professionally in English, French an asset

• A high level of motivation and a self-starting attitude

• An ability to think outside of the box, thrive on new challenges, and understand clients and teammates’ work style

What we look for

• A bachelor’s degree and typical 7+ years of relevant experience in finance transformation, finance consulting, or finance-function roles, including experience working within or advising banks, insurance companies, credit unions, or other financial institutions.

• Experience delivering Finance Transformation projects or workstreams across assessment, design, implementation, and stabilization.

• Experience across several finance capabilities, such as finance operating model, financial and management reporting, regulatory reporting processes, consolidation and close, planning and forecasting, performance management, reconciliations, or finance data management.

• Experience assessing or improving finance processes, systems, and data flows within a Financial Services environment.

• Experience managing project teams, deliverables, budgets, risks, and senior stakeholder communications.

• Relevant professional qualifications or advanced education, such as an MBA, CPA, CA, CMA, CFA, or recognized project, transformation, technology, or change-management certification, are assets but are not required.

• Travel may be required for this role.

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.

• Toronto: $114,000 to $171,000
