Electrical Engineer - Utilities Engineering (P.Eng Required)

Position Scope
The Electrical Engineer – Utilities Engineering is responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing industrial electrical systems that support plant utilities and manufacturing operations. This role focuses on medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, motor control systems, control wiring, and industrial power distribution.
The engineer will produce detailed electrical designs and drawings, conduct site surveys and inspections, and support the commissioning of electrical installations. The role also contributes to the development of a growing Utilities Engineering Team, supporting projects across multiple international locations.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Design
- Design and develop industrial electrical systems, including medium and low voltage power distribution.
- Prepare detailed electrical designs for cabling systems, motor control systems, and control wiring.
- Produce detailed electrical drawings and layouts in AutoCAD.
- Develop electrical design documentation and technical specifications for industrial installations.
Engineering Documentation
- Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
- Support development of electrical design standards and guidelines for utility systems.
Site Surveys & Inspections
- Conduct industrial electrical site surveys to evaluate existing systems and infrastructure.
- Perform onsite reviews and inspections of electrical installations.
- Ensure electrical installations comply with engineering standards and applicable codes.
Commissioning & Startup
- Participate in commissioning and startup activities for industrial electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems during installation and commissioning phases.
- Support testing and verification of electrical equipment and controls.
Project Support
- Provide technical support for industrial electrical installation projects.
- Participate in project management activities related to electrical installations.
- Review contractor drawings and electrical submittals.
Energy Efficiency & Audits
- Participate in energy audits and energy efficiency assessments for industrial facilities.
- Provide recommendations for improving electrical system efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in industrial electrical engineering, with a focus on utilities or manufacturing environments.
- Canadian P.Eng. Status required. American PE status is a definite benefit.
- Exceptional English Writing and Speaking skills.
- Ability to travel internationally.
- Good experience in producing detailed electrical designs (med/low voltage systems, cabling, motor control, control wiring) and associated drawings in AutoCAD.
- Good experience with onsite review, inspection, and commissioning of industrial electrical installations.
- Good experience in conducting industrial electrical site surveys.
- Experience in energy audits would be welcome.
- Experience in Project Management relating to industrial electrical installations.
