Lead backend engineering from anywhere in Canada with Tucows Domains, combining people leadership, system design, and hands-on software development.As Engineering Manager, you will guide a skilled team building services, applications, databases, and APIs for Tucows Domains platforms. You will balance technical leadership with delivery ownership, production support, and engineer development. Collaboration spans Product, Operations, QA, Design, and engineering teams.Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and develop engineers through feedback and career supportOwn planning, prioritization, delivery, releases, and blocker resolutionGuide architecture, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production contributionsOversee services, APIs, databases, integrations, reliability, and securityLead incidents, root cause analysis, testing, and CI/CD improvementsRequirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related technical fieldSix-plus years' software engineering experience in backend developmentTwo-plus years' engineering management with direct people managementStrong Python, Go, RESTful API, and PostgreSQL experienceExperience operating scalable systems and supporting production incidentsBring technical judgment, people leadership, and backend expertise to strengthen Tucows Domains engineering delivery across Canada.
