Product Support Representative, Mining

SMS Equipment is looking for a Product Support Representative, Mining to support aftersales product support activities through specialized technical knowledge, product application expertise, and integration with customer operations. This role is responsible for building strong customer relationships, solving technical challenges, and delivering value-added solutions that support customer productivity and business success.

Work Location: Williams Lake, BC or Kamloops, BC

Salary: $90,000 per annum plus incentives.

Work Arrangement: Fixed on-site, working from the office and customer sites.

Schedule: Monday to Friday.

What You'll Do

• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, managing relationships and supporting product and service requirements.


• Prepare detailed parts and service proposals aligned with customer needs and operational requirements.


• Provide technical expertise on equipment applications, performance, limitations, and product solutions.


• Introduce and promote new products, technologies, and equipment improvements.


• Supply customers with manuals, technical documentation, and product information.


• Travel regularly to customer sites to maintain strong partnerships and support operational needs.


• Assist customers with system implementation and utilization, including KomTrax and VHMS.


• Maintain accurate customer and equipment information within CRM and ERP systems.


• Collaborate with branch, shop, and field service teams to ensure customer expectations are achieved.


• Coordinate service, warranty, billing, and equipment performance concerns with the appropriate SMS leaders.


• Identify opportunities to improve products, services, and customer outcomes through regular feedback and recommendations.


• Act as the voice of the customer within branch operations, fostering partnership and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Lead JoiFUL meetings and other strategic customer engagements.


• Work closely with customer planning teams to understand future requirements and align SMS service and parts support strategies.


• Support contract stewardship and ensure both SMS Equipment and customers meet contractual obligations.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of industrial sales experience, along with experience in the heavy equipment industry and familiarity with large construction and mining equipment. They will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent relationship-building skills to deliver customer-focused solutions.

Other requirements include:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience using CRM systems.


• Strong communication skills with customers, suppliers, and OEM partners.


• Demonstrated ability to identify innovative solutions to complex customer challenges.


• Ability to establish achievable objectives that align customer requirements with business capabilities.


• Strong understanding of contract management and interpretation.


• Ability and willingness to travel as required to support customers and business objectives.


• Knowledge of data collection and management practices is considered an asset.


• Post-secondary education in Business, Mechanical, or a related technical discipline is considered an asset.


• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with the ability to operate company vehicles for extended periods.


• Self-motivated approach with a commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry best practices and technologies.
