Fly-In and Hospital Sites – Northern Manitoba

Acute Care/ Chronic Care/ On-Call – Independent Contractor

Hourly Renumeration Range : Step 1-6: $64.83 - $94.28

Full-time Renumeration Range: $109,237.00 - 158,902.00

Additional Stipend For On-call

Daily Per diem while in community

Application Requirements

• NAC OSCE score greater than or equal to the cohort mean based on the year in which you participated in the exam (please refer to the table located in the application form) OR experience in Manitoba as a Clinical Assistant
• Be a permanent resident or Canadian Citizen
• At least one year of Postgraduate Clinical Training that includes at least one month in each of the following rotations: General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, and General Surgery
• Must have practiced independently (with a national/regional full unrestricted license) as a general or family practitioner for at least 12 months
• Have medical school diploma and postgraduate training certificates currently verified through physiciansapply.ca
• Meet requirements to register as a clinical assistant in Manitoba as outlined by The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba

Responsibilities

• Works effectively in acute care medicine and primary care settings
• Obtains medical histories and performs physical examinations
• Orders appropriate diagnostic investigations, interprets reports of investigations, analyzes information to monitor progress and plan treatment
• Participates in interdisciplinary staff and nursing education through CME activities, mentoring, role modeling and facilitating the exchange of knowledge in the clinical setting, including a PA-led, MD-supervised mentorship program
• Runs a chronic care clinic that focuses on the management of chronic illnesses such as DM, HTN, COPD and substance misuse
• supports hospital/nursing stations acute care needs by participating in call rotations shared amongst physicians and PA group

Skills/Abilities

• English proficiency requirement in accordance with the University of Manitoba academic policy

• Strong health assessment and clinical skills are required
• Excellent leadership, critical thinking and communication skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative practice model, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Must demonstrate an appreciation of Indigenous worldviews and be sensitive to providing culturally safe, anti-racist trauma-informed care
• Must be able to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible
• Must possess a dependable, consistent and reliable work record, including attendance at work
