POSITION SUMMARY:

The Barrett Centre Community Engagement Coordinator will support:

• Local and regional community engagement initiatives
• Community Member / Partner Relationship Management
• The Barrett Centre's growth goals for pan-CAD and global engagement
• Strategic planning for overall community engagement
• Building Barrett Centre community partnerships and relationships
• Creation, management, maintenance, and growth of the Barrett Centre Urban Agriculture Community Portal
• This position will support the Barrett Centre's goal to increase its community engagement regionally, provincially, nationally, and globally.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support local and regional community engagement initiatives by:

• Work collaboratively with other Barrett Centre and DC staff to identify, plan, and initiate community engagement opportunities.
• Includes (but not limited to): BC hosted events, workshops, and tours; attending local and regional meetings; making presentations to community members
• Identify local and regional events, conferences, and engagements for attendance (by the Coordinator and/or by other Barrett Centre staff)
• Work with the Program Coordinator to support the implementation of community engagement initiatives
• Manage the Barrett Centre's community partners and members via our CRM platform (Salesforce)
• Ensure timely and accurate information is provided upon request and communicated in an efficient, professional, and customer focused manner.

Support the Barrett Centre's growth goals for pan-CAD and global engagement:

• Work with the Partnership Manager to synergize local and regional community engagement with pan-Canadian and global engagement
• Identify pan-Canadian and global events, conferences, and engagements for attendance by the Barrett Centre team
• In collaboration with other members of the Barrett Centre and DC team, support the planning, development, and execution of pan-Canadian and Global initiatives and community engagement
• Strategic planning for overall community engagement:
• Prepare an annual strategy and implementation plan (including budget) for local and regional community engagement to achieve the Barrett Centre goals
• Contribute to the Barrett Centre annual strategy and implementation plan with ideas for pan-Canadian and global expansion

Building Barrett Centre community partnerships and relationships:

• Maintain current community partnerships to support the Barrett Centre
• Develop new partnerships with various organizations to support sustainable and innovative urban agriculture
• Promote networking between the Barrett Centre and the community through the development of marketing initiatives (such as newsletters and social media);
• Represent the College and Barrett Centre at a variety of community events;
• Host guests on tours; and
• Responding to emails from external stakeholders.

Creation, management, maintenance, and growth of the Barrett Centre Urban Agriculture Community Portal:

• Manage the back-end requirements of the portal to ensure a smooth operation of the portal and UX for members
• Work with the selected software developers and platform to manage the platform, make updates/upgrades, and grow the portal
• Work with the Partnership Manager to implement the growth phase of the portal, which includes a portal audit, community engagement/review, UX audit, and proposing solutions
• Upload, manage, and update all resources on the Portal; collaborate with other Barrett Centre team members to ensure consistent development and posting of resources
• Manage the experts and members on the portal to ensure ongoing engagement
• Facilitate member-to-member and community engagement on the Portal through direct and indirect communication
• Set up processes and automations to streamline workflows
• Prepare reports and collect / summarize data on portal usage
• Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of a 4-year degree in Business Administration, Communications & Marketing, Urban Agriculture, Project Management.

• A minimum of 2 years of work experience in coordinating community engagement and relationships, coordinating partnerships and networking with stakeholders.

• Demonstrated success with marketing and communications initiatives

• Strong emphasis on interpersonal communication skills and events management.

• Experience with a member/customer relationship management platform and/or community portal.

Required Skills

Payband: Band F; Starting Rate: $30.00; Four Year Rate: $ 34.77

Hours: 35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon - Fri (8:30 am - 4:30 pm; one evening shift)
