Heighton Auto Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accounting Clerk to join our centralized accounting office supporting multiple dealerships within the Heighton Auto Group. This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their accounting career who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is eager to learn dealership accounting processes.

Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor and working closely with the accounting team, you will assist with a variety of accounting and administrative functions while receiving on-the-job training and mentorship. As your skills develop, you'll have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and grow within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices and maintain accurate vendor records.

• Prepare accounts payable cheque runs and reconcile vendor statements.

• Process accounts receivable transactions, including cash, cheque, and credit card payments.

• Prepare daily bank deposits and maintain supporting documentation.

• Reconcile and replenish petty cash.

• Post journal entries, including general journals, cheques, and vehicle deal postings.

• Assist with monthly account reconciliations and month-end accounting reports.

• Maintain office supply inventory.

• File invoices and accounting documentation accurately and efficiently.

• Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as assigned.

• Communicate professionally with managers, customers, vendors, and team members across the Heighton Auto Group.

• Cross-train in various accounting and administrative functions to support departmental operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, or a related field is considered an asset.

• Previous accounting or administrative experience is preferred.

• Dealership accounting experience is an asset but not required.

• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.

• High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.

• Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn new accounting software.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Applicants should be located within a reasonable commuting distance of Kingston, ON 

Schedule

• Monday to Friday

•7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

• Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week

Work Location

This position is based in the Heighton Auto Group's centralized accounting office, located on the second floor of the Carloft building. The office is accessible by stairs only, as there is no elevator.
