What you will do

Develops and delivers technical programs to support all training matters pertaining to activities associated with the Bus, Streetcar, Subway fleets, and subway/surface infrastructure systems. The role develops training programs, conducts classroom and practical instruction, evaluates the performance of students, certifies that employees have completed the required training and are qualified to perform the duties of the job. Prepares and maintains training materials and various reports, and ensures the availability of resources to meet training needs. The role conducts research (needs analyses, surveys, and reviews policies, procedures, legislation requirements, etc.) relating to the work. You will ensure work practices are following all policy and legislation requirement; oversee, develop, deliver, and/or evaluate training programs; establish a working relationship, typically in order to cooperate on matters of mutual concern; direct, supervise, and control a process or program through monitoring employees and activities; provide assistance to further progress on a given initiative, or, share resources, knowledge, or expertise with others; conduct job/safety briefings and use appropriate training techniques for adult education in practical and classroom settings . You will monitors and report on student attendance, and evaluates student performance in training sessions through practical assessments and the administration of written and/or practical tests in accordance with department Standard Operating Procedures; evaluate training and instructional methods, techniques and materials; evaluate vendor supplied training and training materials; evaluate and accept new products and/or technologies (vehicles, systems, equipment, etc.) or modifications to vehicles, systems, equipment, etc. In addition to the above you will demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. What Qualifications You Bring

• Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
• Must have or be able to obtain an Adult Teaching Certificate at a community college in Training and Development, or equivalent
• Three-year Community College Diploma/Certificate in Electrical/Electronic Technology, plus several years of directly related work experience, or the completion of an apprenticeship in a motive power or electrical trade
• Knowledge of AC/DC motors and generators, microprocessors, computer networks, electronics and PLCs, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Hydraulics and pneumatics
• Sound knowledge of, and the ability to apply, adult education principles, instruction, assessment, testing and evaluation techniques, research methods, and program design and development methodologies
• Ability to read, comprehend and explain complex, technical information and/or operating and maintenance procedures; and ability to effectively deliver a comprehensive range of training programs to diverse groups in the classroom, at actual work locations, to large and small groups, and on a one-on-one basis
• Must possess a valid Class G Driver's Licence, and be able to upgrade to a class DZ/CZ or AZ as required
• Possession of a valid Truck & Coach Technician Certificate (310-T) is considered an asset
