Generalist Sonographer Role at Island Health
Vancouver Island Health Authority
Take your sonography career to the next level at Island Health, where safety and quality in patient care are priorities. This role encompasses operating ultrasound equipment and performing diagnostic examinations.
As a Generalist Sonographer, you will work under the supervision of a radiologist and be responsible for conducting ultrasound exams, preparing equipment, and managing patient data. A valid diploma in ultrasound technology and certification from Sonography Canada or ARDMS are required for this position. Your expertise and interpersonal skills will support a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform ultrasound examinations for medical diagnostics
• Complete necessary requisitions, forms, and reports
• Oversee and prepare ultrasound equipment and supplies
• Present patient examination data to the radiologist
• Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
Requirements:
• Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist program
• ARDMS or Sonography Canada certification required
• Minimum one year of related healthcare experience
• Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada
• Communicative and physically capable to fulfill duties
