Course Description: Liberty! Equality! These two powerful ideas drove the French Revolution. Meanwhile, steam-powered factories and human muscle during the Industrial Revolution fundamentally reshaped Europe—and beyond. Blood-soaked guillotines and mechanized production put centuries of tradition into the dustbin of history, paving the way for a new and recognizably modern society.

Class Schedule : Wednesdays, 3:00-5:00

Hours of Work: Wednesdays, 5:00-7:00

Sessional Dates of Appointment : September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026

Salary : $54.27 per hour

Qualifications : Applicants should have a completed PhD or (for non-U. of T. graduate students) equivalent, with major field in the relevant topic area. Demonstrated effectiveness as a teaching assistant, academic qualifications in the subject, ability to introduce students to a diverse range of approaches, and suitability for the position.

Description of Duties : Duties may include the teaching of small tutorial sections, marking of assignments, holding scheduled office hours and invigilation of exams; other duties as determined by the supervisor.
