Reporting to the Manager, IT Client Relations and Services, this position is responsible for the operation of single and multi-colour digital print presses and to complete printing projects requested by the City departments. Responsible to provide excellent customer service through preflight operations, file impositioning, quality assurance and print finishing.

Position Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible to operate single and multi-colour digital print presses to produce and deliver printing projects;
• Assess and respond to customer print requests. Calculate costs and provide estimates;
• Receive, prioritize and schedule print requests;
• Manage workflow ensuring all customer service level deliverables are met;
• Create and manage print queues according to special applications and requirements;
• Perform preflight operations; review files and identify and correct possible quality issues, missing images and/or document parts and page sequence errors;
• Responsible for file impositioning; setup projects on a pre-press application and prepare the job via multiplication, impositioning, paper size, grade and colour management when required to maximize output;
• Diagnose and correct image quality. Determine colour quality and conduct the appropriate corrective adjustments if required;
• Bind and finish print projects; this includes but is not limited to binding, stitching, stapling, custom cutting, collating, paper drilling, folding, scoring and perforating print jobs;
• Order and maintain inventory for the Print Centre;
• Be proficient in the diagnosis and resolution of 1st level troubleshooting of digital black & white and colour presses; these include issues such as paper jams, colour and file impositioning challenges, image and/or page shifting;
• Responsible for the calibration of digital black & white and colour presses;
• Maintain premises in good working order to ensure safe operation;
• Schedule deliveries with internal and external courier services;
• Process and coordinate delivery of stationary orders.

Selection Criteria

Education

• High School (Grade 12) graduation plus an additional program of up to one year or equivalent in Desktop Publishing, Adobe software applications or a related field.

Experience

• Over two (2) years, up to and including four (4) years in a desktop publishing and digital print environment.

Other Skills And Assests

• Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Professional, diplomatic and tactful.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and print workflow management.
