Kelowna Boat Charters is a boat charter and rental company located in downtown Kelowna. Our mission is to create unforgettable experiences on the water while maintaining budget-friendly pricing. We take pride in delivering a safe, fun, and personalized service, ensuring every guest enjoys a hassle-free adventure on Okanagan Lake.

We are looking for passionate captains who love boating, watersports, and the outdoors. As part of our team, you'll receive comprehensive training, high-quality uniforms, and exclusive access to our boats at no cost or a reduced rate (discounted fuel not included). Key Duties

• Conduct a safety briefing before departure, including life jacket and first aid locations, and emergency procedures.
• Monitor weather conditions and adjust the charter route or cancel if conditions are unsafe.
• Load necessary water sports equipment, life jackets, and supplies onto the boat before a charter.
• Communicate estimated start and return times with guests.
• Communicate clearly with guests to understand their needs and expectations to create a personalized itinerary for them, including estimated times for activities.
• Engage in friendly conversation with guests.
• Share local knowledge about the Okanagan lake and points of interest.
• Clean up the boat before and after each charter in a timely manner.
• Fit guests with proper life jackets and explain safety guidelines for the water sports that we offer, including tubing, knee boarding, waterskiing, wakeboarding, or wake surfing.
• Teach the basics of each water sport that we offer, including body positioning and hand signals.
• Retrieve fallen riders safely and efficiently while maintaining awareness of other boats and obstacles in and out of the water.
• Suggest popular routes, stops, and attractions based on guest interests.
• Be able to navigate the Okanagan Lake confidently, avoiding hazards and following boating rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of all guests onboard
• Organize and prepare boats & equipment before each charter
• Manage time effectively to stay on schedule
• Provide an outstanding customer experience
• Maintain boat cleanliness and general upkeep
• Assist and instruct guests in water sports

Required Certification

• PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operator Card)
• SVOP (Small Vessel Operator Proficiency)*
• SDV-BS (Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety)*

* If you do not have your SVOP or SDV-BS, we can help you to get these certifications if you are the right candidate for the job. So please, feel free to reach out!

Preferred Experience

• Marine & boating experience, such as a Deckhand, or Marina Rental/ Fuel Attendant.
• Hospitality & tourism experience, such as a Server, Tour Guide, Concierge, or Front Desk Agent.
• General boating experience, such as operating a boat (powered), or participating in water sports (e.g., wake surfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, etc.).

Additional Pay

• Tips: From past seasons, Captains made around $13 - $21 per hour they worked in tips alone.

Pay: $21.31-$25.57 per hour
