The Role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for a Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our dedicated Orthopaedics team. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
• Permanent, full-time
• 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekend and public holiday cover

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate and person-centred care to orthopaedic patients
• Support Registered Nurses with a range of delegated clinical and patient care activities
• Monitor patients and promptly report any changes in their condition to the nursing team
• Undertake clinical tasks such as observations, blood pressure monitoring, wound care and testing procedures within your scope of practice
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate patient records while adhering to confidentiality and information governance requirements
• Assist with stock control, equipment checks and maintaining a safe and efficient clinical environment

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• SVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant experience and training
• Previous experience within a healthcare, patient care or clinical support environment
• Understanding of Healthcare Support Worker standards, codes of conduct and professional responsibilities
• Knowledge of infection prevention, health and safety principles and person-centred care practices
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues
• Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills with the ability to maintain accurate documentation
• A caring, empathetic approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
