Job Description

The Marketing Mentorship will assist  the DCSA marketing team with marketing communications, creat ing social media content , promotional materials, a nd
m anag ing the DCSA website and its services .

The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across a variety of marketing initiative s while contributing their marketing and design skills to support campaigns and communications. This is a collaborative mentorship opportunity designed to provide practical experience in marketing, communications, content creation, digital media, and graphic design.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist the marketing team with the development and execution of marketing campaigns and communications  


• Support the creation, planning, and scheduling of social media content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms.


• Contribute ideas to the social media content calendar and assist with planning content that engages DCSA's student audience.


• Assist with brainstorming, developing, and creating engaging and shareable reels, videos, and other digital content.  


• Support the marketing team in identifying and incorporating relevant social media, digital, and student engagement trends into content and campaigns.  


• Actively practice and evangelize an audience-focused approach to marketing and communications by considering student needs, interests, and engagement.  


• Apply DCSA brand guidelines and support brand consistency across marketing materials and campaigns.  


• Assist with the development of marketing materials and graphic assets for print and digital platforms, including social media, websites, promotional materials, and events.  


• Participate in collaborative project meetings to review scope and understand campaign objectives, creative requests, timelines, and marketing needs.  


• Assist with updates to DCSA's website, including content, images, graphics, and other updates as directed by the marketing team.  


• Support basic website and digital marketing initiatives, including SEO and accessibility considerations.  


• Bring a creative perspective and contribute ideas to marketing campaigns, content, and communications.  


• Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Graphic Designer, and other members of the DCSA team.   


• Work independently on assigned tasks while seeking direction and feedback when needed.  


• Other duties as assigned .

Job Qualifications:  

• Must be a recent Durham College Graduate (within the last two years).  


• 0 to 3 years experience and/or education in marketing, communications, graphic design, interactive media design, or a related field .  


• Experience creating social media, digital, or promotional content.  


• Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects) is considered an asset.  


• Portfolio of previous  creative and/or design work is an asset.  


• Basic understanding of websites, WordPress, HTML, and SEO.  


• Knowledge of industry accessibility standards  for digital and print materials.  
  Team player who is energetic, enthusiastic and self-directed .  


• Consistently shows initiative, curiosity and  a willingness to learn .  


• Creative thinker who is curious about marketing, social media, digital communications, and emerging trends.  


• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across diverse organizations and teams .  


• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with a desire to learn on the job in a rapidly changing environment .
