Director, Engineering Services

Cochrane, a growing community in southern Alberta, invites talented professionals to lead its engineering services as we expand to over 300 staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Engineering Services team, fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence.
• Oversee the planning, design, and execution of a diverse portfolio of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
• Collaborate with senior management and cross‑functional teams to align engineering initiatives with organizational goals.
• Develop and implement engineering best practices, processes, and standards to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Represent the organization in technical discussions and presentations to stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Over a decade of professional engineering and/or project management experience.
• Strong leadership with a collaborative, innovative, and creative approach at senior level.
• Professional Engineer status in good standing with APEGA, or a post‑secondary degree in Applied Science in Civil Engineering (or equivalent CET) with significant infrastructure project management experience.
• Proficiency in strategic insight and execution of game‑changing initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills across diverse systems and audiences.
• Comfortable working on site at Cochrane’s administrative offices most days.
• Self‑aware, relational, and direct in leadership style.
