Aquatic Coach

Spray Lake Sawmills Centre (SLSC) is a leading-edge sport and recreational facility encompassing 325,000 square feet, including an aquatic centre, four arenas and a curling centre, fitness & climbing facilities, an indoor turf, track, and gymnasium, and is home to several third-party tenants. SLSC is a not-for-profit organization and a registered charity, governed by a volunteer board of directors. About the Position

Do you have a passion for coaching, mentoring, and helping participants develop their skills and confidence? We are looking for enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and motivated Coaches to join our team and create positive, engaging, and safe experiences for participants of all ages and abilities.

As a Coach, you will play a key role in program delivery by teaching skills, providing encouragement, fostering teamwork, and creating an environment where participants can learn, grow, and succeed. Successful candidates are dependable leaders who bring energy, professionalism, and a commitment to participant development.

Job Type: Part-Time, Hourly

Start Date: Late August 2026

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver high-quality aquatic coaching sessions and programs.
• Teach technical skills and promote participant growth and success.
• Create a positive, respectful, and fun environment that inspires learning, motivation, and confidence.
• Ensure participant safety and wellbeing at all times.
• Collaborate with other Coaches, Head Coach, and Aquatic staff to support program success and operational excellence.
• Communicate effectively with participants, parents/guardians, and team members.
• Support program planning, setup, cleanup, and administrative requirements.
• Act as a positive role model and ambassador for the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Age 15 Minimum
• • Bronze Cross (or National Lifeguard)
  • Lifesaving Instructor (LSI)
  • Current Intermediate First Aid, and CPR-C/AED that is valid within one year
• • Minimum of Bronze Cross and LSI
  • Asset: 2+ years of competitive swimming experience
• • Minimum of Bronze Cross, LSI, and Sport Coach 1
  • Asset: 2+ years of coaching experience
• Swim 101/201 and Safe Sport certifications would be an asset.
• Able to develop and execute creative lesson plans while remaining flexible to individual and group dynamics.
• Able to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (if over 18 years), or Criminal Record Check (if under 18 years).
