Director of Strategic Initiatives & Transformation

The Director of Strategic Initiatives & Transformation is a high-trust, high-impact, cross-functional operator responsible for shaping and executing our client’s modernization agenda. This is an intense, fast-paced role suited for a smart, disciplined builder who excels at taking ambiguity, disorder, and complex operational environments and turning them into clarity, systems, and forward momentum.
In this role, you lead a transformation team dedicated to mapping, standardizing, and re-engineering core business processes across operations, maintenance, safety, customer service, finance, HR, and field services. You will design the future state of how the company works—powered by AI-centric tools, automation, workflow redesign, and best-in-class industry technologies .
You will also act as a strategic integrator across the Executive Team, facilitating alignment, prioritization, and execution of enterprise strategic initiatives, while strengthening reporting systems and data integrity. Your success will be measured by the organization’s ability to become future-ready, technologically advanced, data-driven, and operationally excellent .
This role requires an always-on mindset , the ability to move at the speed of the President , and comfort operating in rapidly evolving environments where expectations are high and outcomes matter.
Qualifications & Experience
• 5–7+ years leading transformation, strategic initiatives, or operations improvement in a high-growth or industrial environment.
• Experience in solid waste, environmental services, logistics, transportation, or heavy-asset industries strongly preferred.
• Strong strategic planning, financial acumen, and operational insight.
• Deep experience in project management, cross-functional leadership, and data analytics.
• Prior exposure to AI-enabled transformation or advanced technology deployment is an asset.
• Exceptional communication skills; capable of influencing senior leaders and frontline teams.
• High adaptability, emotional intelligence, and resilience in high-pressure environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft O365, collaboration tools, and modern business systems.
