Executive Chef – Tuscany Restaurant

Location: Bowen Island, BC — approximately a 20-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay
Salary: $60,000–$80,000 per year + tips (typically $7–$9 per hour), depending on experience and final role/responsibilities

Tuscany Restaurant is looking for an experienced, hands-on Executive Chef to lead our kitchen team on Bowen Island.

This is a working chef position in a busy, established Italian restaurant. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable leading a team, managing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, and jumping on the line during service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the kitchen team through prep and service

• Maintain consistent food quality, presentation and portion standards

• Train, coach and develop cooks and kitchen staff

• Oversee food ordering, inventory and supplier relationships

• Manage food costs, waste and labour costs

• Maintain strong prep, organization and kitchen systems

• Ensure all food safety, sanitation and cleaning standards are followed

• Work closely with ownership and the FOH management team

• Assist with menu development and seasonal specials

• Maintain consistency across our pizza, pasta and Italian-inspired menu

• Help create a positive, respectful and efficient kitchen culture

What We’re Looking For

• Several years of professional kitchen experience, including experience in a leadership role

• Strong line-cooking skills and a willingness to work alongside the team

• Experience managing ordering, inventory and food costs

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Calm and effective during busy services

• Reliable, professional and team-oriented

• Experience with Italian cuisine, pizza or pasta is an asset

• Red Seal certification is an asset but not required

Tuscany is a small, independently owned restaurant with a loyal local following and an established team. This role would be a great fit for a chef who enjoys running a kitchen but also wants to remain closely involved in the food and day-to-day operation.
