Yard Assistant

Job Responsibility:
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Inspect trailers and shunt trucks inbound and outbound with drivers
- Ensure damages are recorded and forwarded to Operations Manager/Maintenance Team
- Creating work orders, opening/closing lease agreements
- Weekly reconciling of fleet assets
- Picking up and dropping off license plates and registrations
- Pick up and drop off drivers within a 25km radius
- Drive within a 5km radius on a daily basis between local drop yards
- Starting/Boosting equipment periodically to run test on refrigeration units and shunt trucks prior to use
- Installing and removing license plates as needed
- Inventory management - tires, trailer bulkheads and partitions, electrical cords, fuel tanks, heaters, refrigeration units, etc.
- Opening and closing the yards
- Cleaning and maintaining yard, shop and company's pickup truck
- Updating fuel and wash logs
- Fueling trailers and shunt trucks
- Filling and scanning documents
- Moving shunt trucks within the yard/shops
- Cleaning shunt trucks to prepare for rental
- Ensuring all fluids are topped up on shunt trucks
- Sweeping trailer
- Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years of Customer Service experience
- Understanding of transport maintenance
- Knowledge of transportation industry is a strong asset
- Some knowledge of equipment maintenance or trade license in highway trucks/trailers
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, work outside in all climates
- Ability to sit/stand and bend at waist for extended periods of time
- A valid class G driver's license for the province of Ontario
- Own vehicle

ABOUT THE COMPANY:
With over 30 years of industry expertise, Checker Flag Leasing is a reputable transport equipment leasing business that buys, sells, rents, and leases transport trailers and trailer equipment from all manufacturers and is the dealer for TICO Terminal Tractors across eastern Canada.
As a Yard Assistant, you will assist the Operations Manager with identifying repairs and liaising with Maintenance Team and customers to arrange service. This role is full-time in person with shift time being Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
