Role Overview

Start Date: January 4, 2027 

For this exciting position, we are targeting students with a background in Computer Science, data analysis, or business studies. We also welcome students from information technology, technical studies, or similar areas. Candidates must be enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution for the full duration of the co-op term and plan to return to their studies upon completion for at least one academic term. If you are not currently located near the work location, you must be willing to commute or temporarily relocate for the work term. A valid study permit and studentship letter will be required where applicable.  

We are looking for a motivated and curious Business Analyst Co-op Student to join our Govern and Operate team within Data & Analytics. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data governance, data operations, business analysis, and partner engagement. You will contribute to enterprise data initiatives that support business and operational teams and help improve how data is managed and used across the organization.  

Working closely with teams responsible for data oversight, Technology, and business partners, you will help translate business needs into practical data governance solutions. You will also support crafting processes, standards, documentation, and capabilities that improve data quality, accessibility, and value.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Support the configuration and implementation of technology related to data management and quality assurance
• Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand data-related needs, challenges, and requirements 
• Conduct business analysis activities, including requirements gathering, process analysis, documentation, and gap assessment 
• Support the development and maintenance of artifacts related to data management, including data dictionaries, business glossaries, process documentation, and governance procedures
• Assist with data quality initiatives, including identifying data quality issues, documenting requirements, and supporting remediation activities 
• Participate in workshops and working sessions with business stakeholders and data owners 
• Prepare presentations, reports, dashboards, and communications for different stakeholder groups 
• Contribute to continuous improvement of data governance processes and ways of working 
• Take on additional analysis and project activities as opportunities arise 

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a university or college program in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a curiosity about working with data 
• Ability to organize complex information and communicate it clearly 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Interest in data oversight, information management, data quality, analytics, or digital transformation
• Comfortable collaborating with both business and technical partners
• Good attention to detail and ability to prioritize various responsibilities 
• Proactive, curious, and willing to learn new concepts and technologies 
• Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, SQL, or other data/analysis tools 
• Previous experience with data governance, data catalogues, metadata, or business analysis is an asset

Pay Range: CAD $4,108 - $5,183 per month

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
