Job Description:
TD Bank Group is seeking an experienced, strategic, and forward-thinking security leader to serve as the AVP of Global Executive Protection Services (EPS). Based at TD’s global headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, this senior leadership role is directly responsible for designing, directing, and executing the enterprise-wide Executive Protection Services (EPS) strategy across North America, encompassing both Canadian and U.S. footprints.
This candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Executive Protection Specialists tasked with performing all aspects of protective operations globally. This person must be able to lead and operate within a small team environment and will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of designated individuals and assets. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully leading teams in the protective operations space, providing discrete protective services, maintaining strict confidentiality, and must possess seasoned communication skills.
Reporting into the Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise Real Estate, the AVP will lead a cross-border team of protection specialists and contracted assets, overseeing close protection operations, protective intelligence, executive travel risk management, secure aviation/transportation logistics, residential security assessments, and high-visibility corporate event security for the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Executive Team.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Governance
Provide strategic direction, governance, and operational oversight for TD’s North American Executive Protection program across Canada and the United States.
Formulate, standardize, and enforce policies, operational playbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) governing executive safety, advances, and travel risk management.
Protective Operations Leadership
Direct, lead, and support primary and advance protective details for the TD CEO (Canada & U.S.) Senior Executive Team executives and Board members during public appearances, cross-border corporate travel, shareholder meetings, and special events.
Maintain oversight of secure ground and aviation transportation logistics, motorcade operations, and secure movement planning.
Lead comprehensive residential security assessments, physical site reviews, and emergency response planning for designated executive residences throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Protective Intelligence & Threat Mitigation
Collaborate closely with TD’s Threat Intelligence, Physical Security, and Cyber Security teams to proactively identify, monitor, and assess geopolitical, physical, and reputational risks to executive leadership.
Lead threat assessments and develop proportional, discreet risk mitigation strategies for high-risk corporate meetings, shareholder events, and public forums.
Serve as the principal crisis coordinator for any direct security incidents or emerging threats targeting covered principals.
Cross-Border Liaison & Relationship Management
Establish and maintain strong, reliable liaison networks with federal, provincial, state, and local law enforcement bodies across North America (e.G., RCMP, CSIS, TPS, U.S. Secret Service, FBI, local police departments).
Partner with key internal stakeholders, including the Office of the CEO, Corporate and Public Affairs, Executive Administrative Teams, Real Estate and Legal/HR.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, International Affairs, Risk Management, Homeland Security, or a related field (Master’s or advanced certifications preferred).

North American Scope: Demonstrated experience navigating cross-border security operations, law enforcement coordination, and compliance protocols across both Canada and the United States.
Skills & Core Competencies:
Discreet Leadership: Exceptional poise, executive presence, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal communication skills suited for direct, daily interaction with C-suite executives, Board members, and external dignitaries.
Operational Acumen: Strong hands‑on background in protective advances, threat risk assessments, medical response planning, and technical physical security integration (video, access control, residential security).
Cross-Border Regulatory Familiarity: Thorough knowledge of cross-border security travel requirements, concealed carry / armed transport regulatory restrictions (US/Canada), and private security licensing regulations.
Certifications: ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or Certified Protection Officer (CPO) designations are strongly preferred but not required
