We are looking for a Junior Baked Goods Product Developer to join Niche Baker's R&D team. A background in Bakery food science with specific work experience in baked goods product development would be preferred. The primary function of this role is to assist in product development across all stages from concept to execution.

This position requires you to operate, maintain and properly clean all baking equipment and tools. You will be continuously standing for the majority of the shift, and you should be able to lift up to 50lb. The ideal candidate should have a can-do approach to any task.

Job Essentials

• Assist the product development director through all stages of new product developments: concept, formulation, sourcing ingredients, bench-top prototyping, pilot plant trials and full-scale commercialization
• Coordinate samples and conducting testing to validate product design and functionality as requested. Manage sample process, product development timelines, first production trials and existing product quality.
• Monitor post-launch product and existing product performance, gather feedback and implement improvements based on findings and feedback.
• Manage and maintain formulation and information database to provide accurate and timely information to required departments.
• Ability to decorate or assist in decorating different baked good products.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Post-secondary in food science, culinary or a related field
• Experience in an R&D/Product development role in the baked goods industry
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Detail orientated. Creative mindset. Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Experienced at all stages of food product development.
• Strong knowledge of baking ingredient functionality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to be able to work with different teams and individual
• Ability to work independently and a part of a team.
• Proficiency in verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Required language: English

Work Environment:

• Work environment is divided mostly between the test kitchen and plant floor with some computer work

Self Development:

• Willing to upgrade and/or maintain their skill level and knowledge by attending seminars, training sessions, symposiums, batter/breading school, etc.
