Sales Engineer – Applied HVAC / Mechanical Systems

JP Recruitment is working with a well-established North American manufacturer of custom HVAC and mechanical equipment to recruit a Sales Engineer for its London, Ontario territory.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical or engineering background who enjoys working directly with customers, consulting engineers and mechanical contractors. The successful candidate will combine technical knowledge with relationship-building and business development to help customers identify and specify the right engineered HVAC solutions for their projects.

The Role

• Develop and maintain relationships with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, building owners and other key customers throughout London and the surrounding Southwestern Ontario market.
• Work with customers to understand project requirements and recommend appropriate HVAC and mechanical equipment solutions.
• Provide technical support throughout the design, specification, quotation and sales process.
• Assist consulting engineers with equipment selections, specifications, application information and technical documentation.
• Prepare equipment selections, quotations, proposals and supporting technical information for commercial and institutional projects.
• Identify new project opportunities and develop relationships with prospective customers while continuing to grow existing accounts.
• Follow projects from the early design and specification stage through quotation, award and order.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, manufacturing and technical teams to ensure customer and project requirements are properly addressed.
• Stay current on HVAC technologies, equipment applications, energy efficiency requirements and industry developments.
• Represent the company professionally within the local engineering, construction and HVAC communities.

What We're Looking For

• Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline.
• Previous experience in HVAC, mechanical equipment, building systems, consulting engineering, application engineering or technical sales is considered a strong asset.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand technical drawings, specifications and equipment applications.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical customers.
• Comfortable developing new business while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships.
• Self-motivated and capable of managing a territory and multiple projects independently.
• Strong organizational, presentation and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's licence and the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory as required.
