Welder

Welders are responsible for safely MIG welding pre-assembled structural steel products to meet the quality standards and specifications demanded by our Quality Assurance Program and of our industry regulators

Responsibilities

• Perform various fit-up and tacking operations on a variety of structural assemblies
• Interpret weld symbols and follow weld procedures
• Adding stiffeners, brackets, faceplates, etc. using shop orders for location before finish welding
• Perform production GMAW operations on a variety of plate, bars, channel, and related materials working off shop orders and/or verbal instructions
• Setting welding machine to assure uniform bead, adequate penetration with minimum wrap
• Utilizing cutting torch as required
• Performing cleaning operations when required using chipping hammer or grinder to remove burn-through and spatter
• Utilize overhead crane to lift within the capacity of the crane
• Maintaining work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
• Perform tasks as required by Supervisor
• Be willing to help the team succeed wherever possible

Qualifications

• Must have basic math skills to calculate measurements
• CWB certification in GMAW is considered an asset
• Prior experience in the steel industry is considered an asset
• Prior welding experience required
• Capable of working safely in a fast-paced environment
