The Territorial Youth Collective (TYC) is a youth-driven initiative that supports, empowers, and amplifies northern youth through advocacy, community action, and systems change. Through partnerships and collaboration with communities and organizations across the Yukon, the Collective facilitates the process of the Territorial Youth Strategy. In partnership with Tamarack Institute and the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS), we are launching a project that will build innovative, youth-led approaches to uplift youth aged 15–30 across the territory. Position Overview:
This is an exciting and diverse role that allows for a lot of creativity and networking opportunities. The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and delivering the YESS Initiative on behalf of the Territorial Youth Collective. This includes facilitating youth-led community programs, individualized youth service navigation, building cross-sector partnerships, supporting resource collaboration, and guiding the development and implementation of innovative, community-based strategies. The Youth Development Coordinator will ensure the initiative aligns with the Collective Impact framework and meets both local youth priorities and national reporting standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with community youth to understand their needs, strengths, and barriers to employment, education, mental health and/or basic needs.
- Assess skills and needs of youth and help them create achievable action plans for work, training, and personal life-skills development through community programs and workshops.
- Assist youth and their families in accessing community resources such as employment/job programs, education support, youth centers, housing support, advocacy, safe spaces, mental health services, financial aids and/or other essential supports.
- Gather direct feedback on the systemic difficulties and reporting these outcomes back to the community to ensure transparency.
- Maintain continuous liaison with youth, youth serving organizations, first nation councils and the government.
- Organize, partner and facilitate workshops with multiple service providers by co-designing youth-driven projects. Involves traveling to rural communities outside Whitehorse.
- Coordinate volunteer resources and activities, with organizations, Indigenous groups, and social agencies to create and expand youth-friendly opportunities and support networks.
- Maintain program statistics, and reports for YESS partners' evaluation and research purposes.
- Coordinate and manage program logistics, including budgeting, youth friendly collaborations, community outreach, referral pathways, culturally relevant work planning, evaluation & reporting to national and territorial partners.
- Follow the Collective Impact framework while ensuring they meet local needs. Uplift territorial youth strategy. Support youth advisory team, community service providers and volunteers in events & community gatherings.
- 2+ years experience in facilitation, engagement, or leadership development.
- Completion of a college or university program is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Territorial Youth Strategy and Yukon First Nations/Northern Indigenous communities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; willingness to travel.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field is an asset.
- Standard First Aid & CPR required; Valid driver’s license and vulnerable sector check required.
- Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Strong networking, community engagement, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in facilitation, engagement, or leadership development.
- Knowledge of the Territorial Youth Strategy and Yukon First Nations/Northern Indigenous communities.
- Commitment to youth empowerment, social justice, and anti-oppressive practices.
- $28-$38 hour, 70-75 hours bi-weekly
- 4 weeks paid vacation, 15 sick days annually.

Additional Information:
This role requires some weekend work, overtime, and regular travel throughout Yukon and Northern BC/NWT. Preference will be given to youth applicants from Northern and/or Indigenous communities.
