BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre
FTE: 0.2-0.8
Vancouver, BC Canada
The Complex Chronic Diseases Program (CCDP) is an interdisciplinary program that treats and supports patients of all genders with complex chronic diseases including Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia Syndrome and Symptoms Attributed to Lyme Disease.
The program provides patient-centred care with a multidisciplinary team of health professionals. Central to management is supporting partnership in care and supporting patient involvement in treatment decisions.
We are currently seeking a physician to enhance the CCDP’s interdisciplinary team. In this role, you will apply current research evidence and best practice standards to address the medical needs of patients referred to the CCDP. The position will require you to be accountable and deliver quality care in accordance with established policies and values. The scope of your duties will extend to participation in major clinical activities and research within the hospital.
You are committed to your clinical practice and strive to provide the highest level of care. You will work with a strong team of physicians providing care to this population in an outpatient clinical setting. You will work in collaboration with program leadership to facilitate complex medical and ethical patient care plans. You are capable of problem solving, achieving results and developing coalitions. You lead by example, providing support and developing strong working relationships through inter-professional collaboration.
Experience with Complex Chronic Diseases and/or in a related field is desirable. There is the opportunity for mentorship and clinical education to enhance your skills and knowledge base in chronic pain, fatigue and common co-morbidity management with colleagues. Regular interdisciplinary rounds support continued medical education.

What we do
BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCW) is the only facility in British Columbia devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns and families. It provides specialized women’s health services that address the health needs of women of all ages and backgrounds. BC Women’s provides Ambulatory and Inpatient Services for women with substance use disorder. Advances and provincial expansion of service for this population is a strategic priority. As an academic health centre BCW’s mandate includes providing strong leadership in research and the education and professional development of health care professionals in areas related to the health of the populations we serve.
BCW is a program of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), which provides specialized health care services across BC. PHSA is committed to excellence. Our values include: Respect people
- Be compassionate
- Dare to innovate
- Cultivate partnerships
- Serve with purpose.
PHSA and BCW are committed to anti-racism and equity in our hiring and employment practices. With learning and compassion, we are addressing existing inequities and barriers throughout our systems. PHSA is seeking to create a diverse workforce and to establish an inclusive and culturally safe environment. We invite applications and enquiries from all people, particularly those belonging to the historically, systemically, and/or persistently excluded groups identified under the B.C. Human Rights Code.
One of PHSA’s North Star priorities is to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism, which includes dismantling barriers to health care employment at every level. We welcome Indigenous individuals to apply and/or contact the Sanya'kula Team (Indigenous Recruitment & Employee Experience) for support.
Indigenous-specific anti-racism initiatives are rooted in addressing the unique forms of discrimination, historical and ongoing injustices, and marginalization faced by Indigenous peoples. These initiatives align with an Indigenous rights-based approach, recognizing the inherent rights and self-determination of Indigenous communities. PHSA must uphold legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents such as including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study.
