Position Overview  

1911 Gold Corporation is seeking an experienced Hoist Operator for the Underground Operations team at the True North Mine. The role operates mine hoisting systems to safely move personnel, materials, equipment, ore, and waste between surface and underground. Success requires sound judgement, clear communication, attention to detail, and effective coordination with Shaft Personnel, Maintenance, Underground Operations, and site leadership. 

Key Responsibilities  

• Operate mine hoisting equipment within the Manitoba Mining Regulations framework and in accordance with approved procedures, operating limits, and shaft signals to transport personnel, materials, equipment, ore, and waste. 
• Continuously monitor conveyance location, shaft activity, controls, brakes, instrumentation, communications, and safety devices; stop operations and report unsafe, abnormal, or defective conditions immediately. 
• Coordinate hoisting priorities for production, development, maintenance, shutdowns, and emergencies with Shaft Personnel, Maintenance, and Underground Operations. 
• Complete required inspections and support troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance; confirm equipment readiness before returning it to service. 
• Maintain clean operating areas, participate in risk assessments, safety meetings and emergency response activities, and keep accurate logs, inspection records, downtime reports, defect notifications, and shift handovers. 

Qualifications  

• Experience operating mine hoisting equipment in an underground mining environment; hard-rock, shaft, personnel, material, cage, and skip hoisting experience is preferred. 
• Strong knowledge of hoisting systems, controls, safety devices, operating procedures, shaft signalling, communications, and safe hoisting practices; as per Manitoba Mining Regulations 
• Ability to identify equipment abnormalities and hazards, sustain focus during repetitive safety-critical work, and respond calmly to changing or emergency conditions. 
• Strong situational awareness, attention to detail, communication, teamwork, reliability, and ability to work independently. 
• Ability to complete a Hoisting Medical examination and work 12-hour shifts on a rotational schedule that includes both dayshift and nightshift.
• Preferred credentials include a relevant Hoist Operator qualification, WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Mine Rescue or emergency response, underground mining, and related shaft or hoisting training.
