Become the inaugural General Counsel at Nchʼḵay ́ Development Corporation, providing strategic legal guidance to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. This senior role influences decisions with deep legal expertise and cultural competency.
Nchʼḵay ́ Development Corporation seeks a General Counsel with in-house experience in corporate and commercial law. You will manage legal risks across regulatory, real estate, and Indigenous law while ensuring compliance with Squamish Nation governance. This position requires a trusted advisor who provides actionable legal insights to encourage economic development and protect the organization's interests.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice to CEO and Board members
• Identify and mitigate legal risks across various domains
• Draft and negotiate contracts and agreements
• Oversee compliance frameworks and legal operations
• Manage litigation and external legal counsel
Requirements:
• Admitted to the Bar in British Columbia
• Minimum 5 years of in-house or equivalent experience
• Expertise in corporate, commercial, and Indigenous law
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong cultural competency regarding Indigenous governance
