Senior Educational Technology Specialist

Job Responsibility:

Position Summary

Cambrian College's Teaching and Learning Innovation Hub requires a full-time Senior Educational Technology Specialist beginning August 2024. Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support the Learning Management System (LMS) and educational technology for academic staff.
• Research and develop new educational technology directions based on best practice for the academic division
• Liaises with information technology, finance, and other relevant teams to ensure appropriate implementation of educational technologies.
• Manage and maintain the day-to-day operation of technology support within the Teaching and Learning Innovation Hub, including partnership in duties and assignments with other educational technology staff and occasional student workers.
• Liaise with vendors and College personnel in an effort to achieve departmental objectives pertaining to academic success
• Synchronize and support high-level projects, propose and recommend procedures and participate in long-term planning to continually improve the use of educational technology in the academic division
• Work cohesively with faculty to assist them in the selection and use of technology in support of teaching at Cambrian College.

Qualifications

• Four-year postsecondary degree, preferably in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Online Learning, Web or Multimedia Development, Computer Information Systems, Distance Education, or related field. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
• Minimum five years of experience in developing and administering online/blended/web enhanced instructional content. Experience in developing online/web-based content using a variety of web delivery tools
• Must also possess experience in administering course management software, such as Moodle, Brightspace (D2L), or similar, experience in user centric design/user interface design/usability, as well as experience in the area of educational technology evaluation using SAMR and SECTIONS tools.
• Experience in coordination of multi departmental collaborations
• Experience in the use of educational technology tools and how they are best applied to the web and how web techniques vary between browsers and computers, and how they impact persons with accommodation.
• Teaching experience in both in-class and online, preferably in a higher education setting.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills, along with solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess highly creative problem-solving skills
• Must be a self-directed and energetic professional with the ability to work independently as well as within a team-oriented environment
• A valid Ontario Driver's License is required as travel to satellite campuses may be required.

• Experience in a postsecondary educational setting.
