Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager, Group Academy, this individual contributor role is responsible for delivering high quality technical training to Volkswagen and Audi dealership service personnel, with a focus on the effective application of automotive technologies and processes. Training includes theoretical instruction as well as hands on diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures, delivered through a variety of blended learning formats.

The position is also accountable for the day to day operations and maintenance of the Training Center, including accurate scheduling, reporting, and administration of classes within the Learning Management System (LMS). In addition, the role contributes to the review, maintenance, and development of course curriculum and training content to ensure accuracy and alignment with emerging technologies.

This is a fully on site position based at the Richmond British Columbia Learning Centre operating Monday through Friday during standard business hours. While the schedule follows a regular weekday structure, flexibility may be required to meet business needs. Due to the nature of the role and training delivery requirements, occasional additional hours or adjustments to the work schedule may be necessary to support operational demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion and represent the Volkswagen and Audi brands, ensuring all training delivery reflects the organizations’ technical excellence, safety standards, and customer experience expectations.
• Deliver high quality technical instruction to dealership technicians and VGCA corporate employees, using the established Service Training curriculum and applying best practice adult learning methodologies.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute a continuous three month rolling Service Training schedule, including accurate class setup, roster management, and course closure within the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Collaborate on the review, enhancement, and development of training curricula, ensuring course materials, delivery methods, and assessments remain current, technically accurate, and aligned with emerging technologies.
• Contribute to New Model Launch and New Technology initiatives, supporting content development, training readiness, and technical accuracy for both planning and execution phases.
• Oversee day to day operations of the Learning Center, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and security of all assets—including training vehicles, diagnostic equipment, tools, and facility resources—while maintaining compliance with all corporate and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Formal Education

• Bachelor’s Degree - Major in Automotive Science and/or related discipline
• Accreditation in Adult Learning and Instructional Methodologies or equivalent certification is an asset
• A valid Provincial Technician's License or Interprovincial (Red Seal) Certification is required, supported by the necessary technical skills and competencies

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in a Technical Automotive position within an OEM Dealership
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in training or teaching others is preferred

• Skilled in facilitating hands-on training, demonstrations, workshops, and classroom sessions.
• Ability to adapt teaching style for different skill levels and learning preferences.

Communication & Presentation Skills

• Strong verbal communication, with the ability to engage groups both in person and virtually.
• Clear writing skills for course materials, assessments, and technical explanations.
• Fluency or bilingualism in French and/or German is considered an asset.

Curriculum Development & Instructional Design

• Ability to design, update, and improve training content and learning materials.
• Experience assessing learning needs and adjusting content based on technology updates.

Coaching & Feedback

• Ability to observe learner performance and provide constructive, actionable feedback.
• Skilled at encouraging learning, building confidence, and supporting skill development.

Diagnostic & Problem-Solving Skills

• Strong analytical thinking to trouble-shoot issues – both technical and learner-related.
• Resourcefulness in adapting tools, equipment, or approaches when conditions change.

Classroom & Learning Environment Management

• Effective management of classroom dynamics, hands-on shop environments, tools, vehicles, and safety protocols.
• Ability to maintain engagement, ensure safety, and keep sessions running smoothly.

Technology & Relationship-Building Skills

• Strong ability to build rapport with technicians, service staff, and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset when working with curriculum teams, dealerships, and OEM partners.
• In addition to strong computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.), familiarity and willingness to learn and use LMS and curriculum development software as required

Organization & Time Management

• Ability to plan multi-month training calendars, manage logistics, and prepare learning environments.
• Strong attention to detail when tracking attendance, assessments, and course closures.

Safety Awareness

• Thorough understanding of shop safety and high-voltage/EV safety protocols.
• Ability to model and enforce safe work practices.
• Commitment to fostering a psychologically safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment where all applicants feel valued, supported, and able to contribute without hesitation.

Work Flexibility

• This position is fully onsite
• Availability for up to 30% travel, as per business requirements

Salary range is dependent on factors such as industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications. The salary range for this role is $87,000 - 97,000, actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and internal compensation practices.
