Marketing and Events Assistant

We are a Kelowna based non-profit that provides outdoor recreation programs to youth that provide instruction and life skill development through mentorship and play.

We are looking for an energetic and passionate person to join our team as a a Marketing and Event Assistant this summer. Previous experience with social media and/or event management management is desired.

The role will be primarily weekdays, during daytime hours, between 35 and 40 hours per week, with some evening and/or weekend work to support special events.

Tasks and Responsibilities

This role will have 3 main priorities to provide a diverse set of skills and experience. The first priority is supporting our Fund Development Coordinator with our summer events. On the Lawn is a 4 week long lawn bowling event that helps raise funds to cover the costs of our scholarship programs. The candidate will support the delivery and execution of the event through day of on site work, marketing, and working with our team on volunteer management and participant engagement. They will do pre-event work with securing donations and sponsors, coordinating with players, and social media to create excitement around the upcoming event.

The second priority will be supporting our social media coordinator with marketing efforts and updating and improving our impact reporting templates. They will be responsible for communicating with our team to collect stories from our summer events and programs to share across our marketing channels to highlight the impact of our work in the community. They will also work to increase our followers and deliver our social media plan to maintain and increase the awareness of our work in the community. Lastly, they will work on impact report templates to better convey the impact we have on our participants to our key stakeholders and funders.

The Third priority will be spending time on our summer programs collecting media, both photo and video. These will be used in future promotional work, on our social media feeds, as well as provided to parents of the participants. It also provides them with time learning and experiencing what program delivery looks like to further expand their skill set and help build their resumes.

Duties

• Work with event planner/other staff to support work for summer fundraising events
• Working with and managing Volunteers
• Social media (keep regular social media postings and news)
• Community involvement and activism
• Participate in local community events representing the organization
• Communication with other staff to help collect stories and impact statements
• Update and streamline impact reporting and sharing impact with funders and key stakeholders
• Spent time on programs capturing stories and media
• General communication with stakeholders
• Other work as needed to support the organization

Wage - starting at $22.00/hour

Hours - 35-40/week

Duration - 8-10 based on candidate

*Role is created through Canada Summer Jobs funding. To be eligible for this role you must be between the ages of 15 - 30 at the start of the contract, as well as be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or have been granted refugee status.
