Job Title: Cloud Architect – Microsoft Azure

Location: Calgary, AB Work Style: 100% Onsite (5 days/week) Delivery Environment: Agile or Waterfall Skills: Digital – SAP Cloud Architecture Experience Required: 10+ years as a Cloud Architect, including on‑prem to cloud migration

Role Description

We are seeking a Microsoft Azure–qualified Cloud Architect to create a five‑year Data Centre roadmap that supports hardware planning, vendor alignment, budgeting accuracy, business continuity, and security planning. The architect will assess the current environment, define a migration strategy, and produce a complete TCO model for cloud computing.

Key Responsibilities

1) Current State Assessment & Discovery

• Assess existing data center environment (server estate, hardware lifecycle inputs)
  

• Engage stakeholders to understand business drivers, future requirements, and constraints
  

2) Network & Migration Assessment

• Perform network assessment to support on‑prem → cloud migration
  

• Define and document a migration strategy aligned with Microsoft best practices
  

3) Five‑Year Roadmap & Cost Model

• Produce a 5‑year Data Centre roadmap with sequencing, options, and decision points
  

• Build a 5‑year TCO model for cloud computing
  

• Ensure roadmap is actionable and aligned with Microsoft best practices
  

4) Co‑location Options & Risk/Cost Analysis

• Evaluate whether co‑location should be part of the roadmap
  

• Provide co‑location options based on risk and cost
  

• Include network design/performance considerations
  

5) Virtualization & Prior Experience Application

• Apply prior on‑prem virtualization experience to recommend target‑state architecture and migration pathways

Note: OT and EMS servers are out of scope.

Required Qualifications & Experience (Must Have)

• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ‑305)
  

• Minimum 5 years of Data Centre planning and road‑mapping experience (including 5‑year TCO creation)
  

• Proven experience performing network assessments for on‑prem → cloud migration
  

• Demonstrated ability to create cloud migration strategies
  

• Experience with on‑prem virtualization
  

• Prior experience delivering roadmap, modernization, and TCO‑focused engagements
  

Nice‑to‑Have (Future Phase – Starting Jan 2027)

• Support for data center hardware procurement aligned to governance
  

• Experience preparing/assisting with RFPs and vendor selection processes

Assumptions / Working Context

• Client will provide required Microsoft licenses
  

• Planning assumptions include ~26 active corporate servers in the data center
  

Stakeholder Collaboration

The Cloud Architect will collaborate with Client stakeholders to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and produce roadmap/TCO outputs suitable for budgeting and planning.
