Job Summary

FECC is seeking exceptional candidates for a long-term career in our employee-owned company. We provide building enclosure engineering services, including design, building science, peer reviews, construction administration, site observations, field and laboratory testing, and rehabilitation. We are also expanding to offer Mechanical Commissioning, Sustainability, Thermal Modeling, and Energy Modeling.

As a Senior Associate, you will work on building enclosure projects, reporting to the Project Manager or Principal-In-Charge. FECC will assist you in obtaining necessary professional engineering licenses or certifications. This role requires technical knowledge, a strong understanding of construction, and the ability to communicate findings and recommendations to clients effectively. We seek individuals who think creatively, develop effective solutions, and stay at the forefront of technology.

During your initial months at FECC, you will receive mentorship and training. Post-training, you will work independently on tasks related to investigation, testing, design, administration, and observations. Client relationships are crucial at FECC; all employees must network and work directly with clients. Intermediate team members are expected to give presentations and participate in business development.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise technicians, draftsmen, and other project team members.
• Work independently on project tasks.
• Prepare drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Develop letters, reports, drawings, specifications, and proposals with guidance.
• Investigate leakage in roofing, waterproofing, windows, and other enclosure systems.
• Conduct field investigations and on-site construction monitoring.
• Participate in on-site construction meetings with clients and contractors.
• Present to client groups and professional organizations.
• Engage in professional events and activities to build industry contacts.
• Manage small projects, including overseeing engineering, budgeting, scheduling, and client communications.

Qualifications

While not all listed qualifications are mandatory, they will be required to maintain a position with FECC. FECC provides training, mentoring, and support as needed.

• Ability to carry laboratory and field equipment (up to 50 lbs). Access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report, to allow travel to/from project sites and client offices.
• Beneficial experience in any of the following areas: drafting (AutoCAD), 3D building modeling and design (Revit/Rhino), Building Science modeling and calculations (WUFI, THERM, and similar), construction, rappelling, and rope access.

Education & Experience

• BS, BEng, or BASc in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar.
• MS, MASc, Meng, or above (optional).
• 2-5 years of experience in Building Enclosure Consulting (preferred), or Construction, Architecture, or Engineering.
• Licenses & Certifications
• PEng, or OAA preferred (or working towards licensing).
• LEED AP, RRO, RRC, RWO, RWC, REWC, RBEC, BSS, or similar (optional)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
