The position at a glance

The mission of the Head of the Credit Middle office is to ensure that all deals made by the Front Office team are booked by the Middle Office and handed to the back office timely. The head of the Credit Middle Office is responsible for managing risk and ensuring that the transactions are correctly executed.

In detail

Guarantee the accuracy and integrity of the Credit Middle Office o By ensuring all settlements are met timely and all discrepancies are resolved daily. o By implementing procedures and controls that ensure the integrity of the suite of operating system's. o By ensuring the appropriate actions from all trade support ?MO? in properly updating trades o By archiving and storing all necessary supporting documents according to procedure. o By producing and/or providing information for exception reporting to spot trends and take corrective actions as necessary. Guarantee the efficiency of the Credit Middle Office: o By proposing and sponsoring system enhancements and other means of automation. o By minimizing miscellaneous expenses and monitoring staff costs very closely. o By proposing adjustments to resources to meet business needs. o By implementing KPI/KRI, analyzing the data and devising action plans for process and/or system improvements. Guarantee professionalism, motivation, service and quality: o By updating at least once a year, s and objectives o By actively reviewing and approving training requests on a selective basis. o By reviewing progress against objectives for all reporting staff at least once a year o By establishing clear communication channels between internal and external clients and operations o By monitoring staff performance as compared to defined responsibilities and addressing performance issues as they arise. Guaranty the safety and controls of the department: o By updating procedures at least once per year. o By instituting a regular schedule of spot-checking to ensure compliance with established controls and procedures. o By reviewing KRI with the Operations Control Department on a regular basis and updating as necessary o By continuously developing a control mentality in the department. o By regularly following up on all audit findings and implementing corrective action as necessary. Guarantee the adherence to global strategy: o By liaising regularly with other locations on procedures, systems, and other relevant topics that pertain to global functions. o By implementing locally, global guidelines set out by the head office. Contribute to the proper implementation of systems and system enhancements: o By ensuring that the needs of the Product Control departments are well understood by the parties involved. o By overseeing and contributing to the testing of new software releases and/or enhancements before implementation. o By effectively managing the IT resources to ensure a good return on investment

Oversee all closing aspects for the North American region

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

  • Knowledge in the Global Banking Operations services industry with transversal knowledge of a wide range of banking products and processes, such as Trade Finance Operations, Lending Operations, ALM, Cash Management, Payments, Management Accounting, and Financial Reporting
  • Experience with banking applications (e.g. loan / credit management, trade finance, and cash management / payment applications), ability to develop understanding of the applications utilized by the Bank
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills - i.e. the ability to anticipate problems and solve them quickly and effectively

Ø Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in middle / back office activities in banking operations, with 4+ years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Ø BS - Economics, Finance or other related field of study

Ø Knowledge of the English is required

Ø Very strong analytical and review skills in the review and reconciliation of accounting records and reports.

Ø Very strong written and verbal communication skills

Ø Very strong interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships with others, train colleagues, and a willingness to share knowledge with team members.

Ø Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks, work under time pressure constraints and to take ownership for the completion of tasks.

Ø Strong knowledge of financial industry and related products.

Ø Display a sense of curiosity, enthusiasm and eagerness to understand business constraints, environment and impact on regulation for the financial industry.

Qualifications
