The Ministry of Highways is seeking an organized and motivated Pavement Marking Surveyor for a term seasonal position with Saskatoon Pavement Marking Operations. The Ministry provides a safe and reliable transportation system that supports Saskatchewans growth, economic development and quality of life. Safety is a core value, and the successful candidate will support the provincial pavement marking program within an assigned geographic area.
The ideal candidate is accountable, innovative, collaborative, inclusive and adaptable. They demonstrate sound judgment, take ownership of their work, embrace continuous learning and are committed to public service excellence. The position requires effective communication, the ability to manage changing priorities and a focus on safe work practices. Candidates must have knowledge of surveying principles, GPS technology, mapping, AutoCAD, GIS databases and data analysis. Strong abilities in interpreting maps, air photos, survey notes, survey and construction plans, preparing reports, researching information, organizing workloads and communicating technical information are required. Knowledge of traffic control, work zone safety and light equipment operation is also important. The successful candidate will possess a Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma, Geomatics Engineering Diploma, Engineering Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Class 5 drivers license, current driver abstract and the ability to frequently lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs. are required. Duties include surveying and pre-marking highways, laying out intersections and pavement signs, maintaining GIS data, operating survey equipment and supporting pavement marking operations.
