Staff Product Manager - Modeling Platform

CaptivateIQ is looking for a Staff Product Manager – Modeling Platform to define and evolve the foundational modeling capabilities that power products across CaptivateIQ.

Our customers use CaptivateIQ to represent complex business logic: how sales teams earn commissions, how organizations plan headcount and expenses, how revenue is forecast, and how businesses evaluate different scenarios. While these use cases look different on the surface, they depend on many of the same underlying concepts: data, relationships, calculations, models, versions, scenarios, and outputs.

Your job is to turn those concepts into coherent, extensible modeling platform capabilities.

You will work at the intersection of product architecture, data modeling, and user experience, partnering deeply with Engineering, Design, and product teams across CaptivateIQ. You’ll determine what belongs in the shared platform versus individual products, define durable primitives and contracts that multiple teams can build upon, and evolve those abstractions as we expand into new modeling domains.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role for a product leader who loves complex systems, can move fluidly between customer workflows and technical architecture, and knows how to simplify complexity without removing the flexibility sophisticated users need.

What You'll Own

The Modeling Platform is the shared foundation for representing and executing business models across CaptivateIQ.

Your scope will include capabilities such as:

  Modeling primitives. Define the foundational concepts used to represent models, including objects, relationships, inputs, calculations, outputs, components, dimensions, measures, and other reusable building blocks.



• 
  

  Model structure and composition. Enable customers and product teams to construct sophisticated models from reusable, composable pieces rather than bespoke product-specific logic.



• 
  

  State and planning concepts. Establish consistent ways to represent concepts such as actuals, forecasts, versions, and scenarios across modeling use cases.



• 
  

  Cross-model interoperability. Define how data, assumptions, calculations, and outputs can be shared and referenced across models and products.



• 
  

  Modeling interfaces and contracts. Partner with Engineering to define clear schemas, APIs, behaviors, and guarantees that product teams can reliably build upon.



• 
  

  AI-ready modeling. Ensure models have the structure, semantics, and interfaces necessary for agents to understand, create, explain, and safely modify them.

Your job is not to design a modeling system for one product. It is to create the foundation that allows CaptivateIQ to represent many different kinds of business models without rebuilding the modeling paradigm each time.

What You'll Do

  Own the Modeling Platform strategy and roadmap. Define the foundational capabilities and primitives that enable CaptivateIQ to represent complex business models across products and domains.



• 
  

  Define durable platform abstractions. Identify common needs across products and determine what belongs in the shared platform versus the consuming product, where abstraction boundaries should sit, and how those capabilities should evolve over time.



• 
  

  Partner deeply with Engineering. Work closely with senior and staff+ engineers on data models, schemas, APIs, system behavior, performance constraints, and architectural tradeoffs.



• 
  

  Ground platform decisions in real modeling problems. Understand how customers represent data, relationships, assumptions, calculations, business logic, scenarios, and outputs across domains such as incentive compensation, sales planning, and FP&A.

  Connect platform architecture to product experience. Partner with Design and product teams to turn powerful underlying capabilities into intuitive modeling experiences for business users.



• 
  

  Drive alignment across teams. Bring together Product, Engineering, Design, and domain experts to work through complex problems, surface tradeoffs, and make decisions that create leverage across CaptivateIQ.



• 
  

  Build for an AI-native future. Ensure our modeling platform has the structure, semantics, and interfaces necessary for agents to understand and interact with models while maintaining deterministic execution at its core.

What You'll Bring

• 
  

  8+ years of product management experience, ideally with platform, data, modeling, analytics, or other technically complex products.



• 
  

  A track record of building shared platform capabilities used across multiple products, teams, or use cases.



• 
  

  Strong technical fluency and the ability to partner deeply with senior engineers on architecture and system design.



• 
  

  Experience with or a strong understanding of modeling systems , including how data, relationships, calculations, and business logic come together to represent real-world systems.



• 
  

  Excellent cross-functional leadership , with a track record of driving clarity and decisions across Engineering, Design, Product, and other stakeholders.



• 
  

  Strong judgment and communication skills, particularly when navigating ambiguous problems and complex tradeoffs.

Nice to Have

• Experience with enterprise modeling, planning, analytics, BI, data platforms, spreadsheets, or developer platforms.


• 
  

  Familiarity with FP&A, sales planning, incentive compensation, workforce planning, or adjacent enterprise planning domains.



• 
  

  Experience with semantic layers, calculation engines, data modeling systems, workflow engines, or low-code/no-code platforms.



• 
  

  Experience building platforms designed to support AI or agent interactions.

$190,000 - $260,000 a year

The salary range represents the minimum and maximum for this position across North America. The salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors, including individual proficiency, anticipated performance, and the location of the selected candidate. Our salary range is just one component of CaptivateIQ's competitive total rewards package.
