This position provides strategic direction and operational oversight for the Community Services Department, including recreation and facilities. As Director, you will lead Community Services staff and ensure the delivery of professional, safe, and cost-effective programs and facilities that encourage broad public participation. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, operationally focused leader with strong initiative and the ability to remain results-oriented in a fast-paced environment. A firm, goal-driven leadership style—paired with the ability to motivate, train, and engage staff positively—is essential.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical, along with the ability to build effective relationships with staff, stakeholders, and the community. The ideal candidate will learn quickly, adapt to change, and lead with energy, resilience, and a dynamic approach to operations and people-focused leadership. What you bring
- Degree in Facilities Management, Recreation, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum five (5) years of management experience, including recreation services, people and organizational leadership, and building maintenance
- Project Management certification considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Experience working with governing bodies, including boards or municipal councils
- Demonstrated experience in fiscal accountability, contract administration, and procurement processes, including tenders and RFPs
- Proven experience in budget preparation and expenditure control
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess organizational and administrative issues, recommend solutions, and lead implementation
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
